Halloween is back: the Fear Ascended event runs from October 28 to November 11, and we will switch it on on our ARK: Survival Ascended servers too. Expect ghost versions of creatures — six of them new this year: Ghost Tidepup, Burrowbuck, Gargantar, Bloodstalker, Therizino and Megaraptor — alongside skeletal and zombie variants, a pile of creature costumes and player skins, and new coffin and pumpkin furniture for your base (coffin vault, forge, bed, bookshelf and more, pumpkin lamps, a pumpkin carving station, plushies and crackable pumpkins), plus new chibis and the Play Dead emote. Studio Wildcard has also moved the Unreal Engine 5.8 upgrade from October 28 to November 5 to fix the last issues found in the public test; 99.9 % of mods are already recooked for the new engine. We will update our ASA servers around that date, so expect a short downtime. The Giganotosaurus TLC and the Enigmasaur now arrive together with that update on November 5.

Studio Wildcard revealed the dossier for the Enigmasaur, the last creature of the paid ARK Fantastic Tames Season 1 pack, arriving on November 6. It is a true shapeshifter: it can fully turn into other creatures — Direwolves, for example — and even hunt alongside their packs. To tame it, show it that you have already tamed the creature it is currently mimicking, and keep doing so as it cycles through its forms until it accepts you. Thanks to its morphic memory, every form you teach it leaves useful traits behind: a Rex that has learned the Pulmonoscorpius form will still stun its prey, and when it returns to its own body, it gets access to all of its learned abilities at once. Taming numbers will be added to our calculator once they are known after release.

Studio Wildcard revealed the updated Giganotosaurus dossier ahead of its return on November 6: taming becomes a showdown with a "Wrathful" Giga — first prove yourself against alpha-level threats, then survive an omega-level fight, let the Giga exhaust itself attacking you, provoke its rage and wear it down. Wounding a Giga drives it into a berserker rage and it only gets tougher the worse it is hurt; it can now share a measure of that fury with allies, and it gains new stomp and tail slam attacks. Wildcard also opened the Haunted Homestead Halloween build contest (Official and Unofficial / Single Player categories, entries until November 3 in the #haunted-homestead channel of the official ARK Discord, winners revealed November 6, prizes include Dragontopia and ARK Fantastic Tames Season 1 keys). It is a contest of the official ARK network, not of our servers; details on Fear Ascended are still to come.

Studio Wildcard gave a first look at Xeranox, the latest dragon coming to the upcoming ARK: Dragontopia DLC. Its four wings promise remarkable agility and the ability to close the gap on its target fast, and early observations suggest it likes to goad you into striking first — every scratch may fuel its plummet. Many details are still to be revealed.
